This is the furthest my brother and I ever took the idea of creating a sequel for an existing videogame. We spent a weekend developing boxer names and special moves, and I drew everything over the next couple weeks. Scott may have drawn some of these. He also assigned each boxer a rank according to relative toughness.
Brittle Bones Bill was our Glass Joe:
The Bongo Drummer was our saucier, more primitive Bald Bull:
Baron Von Stock was our "director's cut" Von Kaiser:
Luigi Moustachio was King Hippo-like:
Mosquito Mike, the "you" character, was supposed to be a younger, smaller, and faster version of Little Mac, the "you" from the original Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. Mosquito Mike:Little Mac as Ms. Pac-Man:Pac-Man.
Shock and Sock Mitsubishi were identical in all respects, including facial birthmark, only Sock was a little taller and stronger. The idea for twins came from the double appearances of Piston Honda, Don Flamenco, and Bald Bull in the original MTPO.
Prince Derek (aka "Tiny Tough Tim") was a Mosquito Mike doppelganger. We named him after our neighborhood friend Derek, whose allowance was a dollar a day.
Matt Stag was our generic, under-conceptualized mid-size black guy, face borrowed from Mr. Sandman:
Sven Toothski was the generic etc Russian. I can't remember if the mark on his shorts is supposed to mean something. His shoes are British Knights Dimacells, I think.
The Raging Bull, our "end boss," was based on Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the evil Russian boxer from Rocky IV. I had to tape two pieces of paper together to draw this guy. The top-left corner of the drawing contains residue from a lost American flag sticker.
Scott had the smart idea to include real-world boxing personalities in the game as the "personal trainers" of our fantasy boxers. These trainers — Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes, for example — were supposed to appear between rounds to taunt you (the player) and to rub the shoulders/restore the health of the opponents.
LOL, "red china". I'm so glad to know that other 'creative' boys in the 1980s spent a lot of time on this kind of stuff!

I love that Von Stock was born in "Nazi, Germany" (along with everything else here). "Oh, I'm from a little town called Nazi. It's near Dusseldorf... "

The Raging Bull/Drago's abs look like fresh dates.

WOAH, BRIAN: does Brittle Bones Bill have an "Enemy Science Teacher"-style [erased] dick???

I think my brother encouraged me to redo the crotch on that. I wasn't sure how to draw shorts properly. I intended that fold to be "loose fabric," not a penis.
